It is the crazy announcement of the day, The Fugees are back. After 15 years of absence, the mythical trio formed by Lauren Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel will soon start a new world tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their second and last album “The Score”. They will be present in Paris on December 4, 2021 at La Défense Arena. No passage in Belgium unfortunately.

Separated since 1997 and briefly reunited between 2004 and 2006, the Fugees will reform for a world tour that will start with a surprise concert in New York this Wednesday, September 22 before crisscrossing the country from November 2. The tour will then go through London and Paris on December 4th at La Défense Arena. The explicit “Reunion Tour” finds its raison d’être in one of their albums, their 2nd and last, “The Score” released in 1996, with huge hits such as “Killing Me Softly” (with a sample of Roberta Flack) and “Ready or Not” (with a sample of Enya). A must-have album of the 90’s sold 22 million copies worldwide.

The following year, the group split up, each of them being driven by the idea of a solo career. In the summer of 1998, Lauryn Hill released her first and only album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, a hit and a masterpiece, not to mention the importance it had in the hip-hop scene where women were almost non-existent until then. The Fugees then reformed in the 2000s for only 2 years and for a new tour, but no new album was released, most likely because of the relationship problems between Lauryn Hill and the other two members of the group.

In 2018, the singer began a world tour for the 20 years of his album with concerts in Brussels and Paris but which were not to the taste of all.tes… Indeed, hours of delays and angry fans. Same thing the following year at Couleur Café.

However, it is whispered that since last month the band would be in great shape, and would go back on tour after having spent a lot of time together in studio to record a new album!

Will you go and see them? And if a new album is released, will you listen to it?
